The idea is to create an umbrella with less amount of parts, and one that is also durable. Bloom is designed so that the semi-flexible material will move with the wind, preventing it from flipping inside-out. The life cylce of a rose was used for inspiration. The stem of a flower is flexible enough to turn the flower to the most optimal sun. The flower also moves from bed to blossom in a really interesting way. I incorporated this by designing the canopy to close in on itself; this will also keep water from getting on a person's clothes.
