Squares o' My...

The design of the umbrella is near utopian. Just take a dome made of a waterproof material and place it over your head, ingenious right? Yes, but that doesn't mean that the umbrella can't be redone anew. My design entails four collapsible concentric squares, each 2 feet in diameter when open, that hinge and fan out to cover a 4x4 area. The handle rotates from a 90-degree angle and telescopes 2 1/2 feet for easy use. Since fashion and compatibility are large portions of umbrella design, the umbrella is only 6x8x2 inches when closed, and the four squares are a perfect place to add marketable personalization's. Some may be concerned that water could collect in the squares. However, this umbrella works on the precept that no person holds his or her umbrella in a perfectly vertical position, as shown by Ms. Morton. Also, when in the open configuration, the framing will make the fabric turgid enough to repel the water. The framing would be processed from a lightweight, mercury free polymer that called Tartan, and the covering, or skin of the umbrella, would be made from a liquid impermeable fabric called Crypton Green. Both the framing and the skin are Cradle 2 Cradle certified and "greener" solution to the way man does the umbrella.

I like the compactness but I can't make out how the fabric is attached to the frame.
