My name is Matt Clark and I am an independent designer in Los Angeles. The photos below are of my first prototype umbrella. The concept of this umbrella was to change the conventional umbrella aesthetic and material usage. This was accomplished by using bamboo for both the main body and the 'branches' of the cloth. I wanted the people to instantly realize the beauty of the design based on it's purity and connection to nature. I wanted this umbrella to look as if it could have occurred in nature...grown rather than built. I'm still in process of refining the design.

I enjoyed this project very much because it was both challenging and fun.
